Weekly Poll 21 February

February 21, 2020 by Nora 8 Comments

Another week has flown by, which means it’s time to ask your guys’ opinion on another poll! But first, let’s look at last week’s result. Last week, I asked if you guys would mind me sending out an extra newsletter when a book of mine went live.

The overwhelming majority (56%) said they wouldn’t mind at all, and another 19% said they didn’t care either way. Only 25% said they’d like to keep it to once a week on Saturday. That’s certainly food for thought for me.

In this week’s poll, I’m curious about this: “What setting would you love to see more in MM romance?” Let me know!

Theme parks. Disneyland and Disneyworld, Universal Studios, Six Flags, water parks. As locations for dates or one of both working there.
Conventions like Star Trek, Comic-Con, Walkerstalker.I

I absolutely love adventure. A different type of close proximity than being stuck together in a cabin or cave during a blizzard.
I’d love to see more crashed in the jungle or stranded on a deserted island, or another wilderness setting.

A different close proximity setting would be awesome! How about a submarine? I know that’s technically a military romance but it could also be post-apocalyse sea pirates or living a la “Snowpiercer/ Le Transperceneige”.

I like books in which the settings are places I can actually go to …such as Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, OR.

I chose a few but honestly, I will read a Nora Phoenix book wherever the locale is… Your tales are so engrossing on their own that the actual location is usually secondary. However, when woven throughout the story by having the men visit different places even if in the same town, I enjoy traveling vicariously.

I’m not from the US, you can actually say that I’m from the Caribbean, and I haven’t traveled that much in my life(still can count them with my fingers). For that reason, I like when books give me a sense of different places to explore and to add to my travel wish list. I voted for lesser known states and Europe.

I’d absolutely love to read M/M romances that play in Europe, but I imagine the research to portray gay life in the target country would be a bitch. As well as life in the country in general. I know I always roll my eyes when Germany is made the synonym for Dirndl, Lederhosen, Oktoberfest, and Weisswurst. Just writing that my eyes roll so far back that I see my own spine. 🙂
