Nora Reviews: MMMM+ Romances

May 20, 2019 by Nora 14 Comments

There are not a lot of MMMM+ romances, or gay romances with more than three men as main characters. My Irresistible Omegas series started as a plot bunny because some readers said they’d love to see more books with four or more men, and so my brain started contemplating how that could work…and that’s how I came up with Lidon, Palani, Enar, and Vieno.

So in this post, I’m sharing four of my fave MMMM+ romances. Some of these are harem-style, meaning all the men have a relationship with one character but not necessarily with each other. And others are equal MMMM+ romances where all the men are involved with each other.

Fourever – Sloane Kennedy

As always with Sloane’s books, Fourever is not an easy read. It will break your heart and make you cry ugly a few times, but it will also give you all the feels and have a super rewarding happy end. The story is about an existing couple who are struggling who bring two young men into their home. It’s got trauma, hurt/comfort, tons of sexual tension, and it’s so good.

Their Bounty – K.A. Merikan

I was lucky enough to read an ARC of Their Bounty and oh boy, it’s quite the ride. It’s filthy, dark, brutal at times, and with a ton of triggers, but I couldn’t stop reading. An albino boy, Clover, is rescued from slavery by a group of gay mercenaries who take a liking to him. But Clover lies to them and lies have punishment and then feelings happen, and so much more. This one is harem style, and I loved it. The best news? It’s book one in a series. Yay.

All or Nothing – Macy Blake

Of course, All or Nothing belongs in this line up. Or I should say, this whole series. I haven’t started the spin off series yet (The Hellhound Champions), but that one’s got great reviews as well. All or Nothing is the first book in a paranormal gay harem trilogy about a man who discovers he’s anything but ordinary and gets a group of guardians to protect him. I’m not gonna say much more because I don’t want to spoil the plot, but this series is hella sexy, intense, and so much fun.

Acquainted with the Night – Tymber Dalton

Acquainted with the Night is one of the most unique gay romances I have ever read. It combines sci fi and aliens with a sweet, sexy, heartbreaking story. It’s four human men in alien captivity, plus aliens, and it’s got a sort of mpreg, slaves, and some pretty weird ass stuff. It’s gonna give you all the feels and then make you cry. But so worth it.

So, these are my four faves when it comes to MMMM+ romances. I have to give an honorable mention to Five Sided Heart, but while that book was beautifully written, almost poetic, I didn’t connect with it on a deeper emotional level. That may be different for you, so definitely check it out if you’re interested in reading a MMMMM romance that doesn’t revolve around sex.

Any MMMM+ romances you’d like to add? Do we need more of these or meh?

100% agree with “Acquainted with the Night “! I’ve read it at least four times and I never fail to choke up at the end. And then I hug my dog.

I know. That ending is…beautiful, but so hard.

Nora, I read Acquainted with the Night 2 days ago and have not been able to let go of it, especially the last few scenes. It was absolutely fantastic and totally different from anything I’ve ever read, I think, and I’m a voracious reader of almost everything! I want to set up a “spoiler” thread, but don’t really know what I want to say in it. Probably just want to express my gratitude for Tymber’s writing of the story and then her personal story after the epilogue which meant so much to me. I’ve never had a pet but want to believe that pet or human, I’d be willing to do what Master and the others felt was right. Thank you so much for recommending it. I have a tendency to think that Siren/Bookstrand can be formulaic and this book was definitely not! Maybe my assumptions are wrong… Gayle, mainebookworm

I agree. I had the same assumptions about Siren books, but that one broke my heart and then put it back together. It was amazing and so touching…

Five-Sided Heart is a favourite of mine. The individual relationships between each of the characters are well balanced, and the whole group dynamic is nice. Each character has issues, some of them pretty dark, but there is not enough angst to rip your heart out. I’ve read it several times. Of course, I may be biased by the fact that it was the first MMM+ book I read, and it opened a new window for me.

Yeah, I agree. I loved it. Then again, it’s Sloane Kennedy, so I had no doubt it would be fantastic.

You’re welcome! Fourever was wonderful, but I had no doubt it would be… Like you said, it’s Sloane, haha.

You have identified some really great MMM stories. I’ve just read Four Ever as I love Sloane Kennedy and right now I’m currently rereading Macy Blake’s The Chosen One series for the third time. I also liked Sean Michael’s Chess series.

I loved the concept of the Chess series, and the characters were super intriguing, but I had a hard time emotionally connecting. Macy Blake’s series is awesome, right?

Thanks for you list! I’ve read Sloane’s
and Macy’s series and tried the other two and Acquainted with the Night is a new fav! While this had a bit of angst at the end (I don’t normally want stories with much angst), it was TOTALLY worth the few times I needed tissues and my general mopey-ness for the rest of the day (the author’s note at the end helped).
